The Stars Above

Usually evenings are lonely affairs. The kids go to bed and I wander, listless around the house, doing dishes and such. Things that I should have done earlier in the afternoon.Tonight as I took three bags of garbage to the cans, I realized that the moon was extaordinarily bright. We have no street lights here in our high desert neighborhood and it makes for a beautiful view of the night sky! On a really clear night one can even see the milkyway, or a peek at what might lie beyond! It is then that I truly feel the nearness of Christ! That vastness was created for my enjoyment and I was created for his pleasure. What a beautiful sense of belonging! I am amazed that ot only do I have a savior who lves me, but am blessed witha family and friends that love me as well! Moral of story, we are never alone, our Savior and Father in Heaven adores us! As do our Husbands and Children!

Salvete is Latin for Hello friends or close to it! I hope to use this as an avenue to keep up with those who are dear to me and everyone else too!

Oh !To have the energy of a 6 yr. old! Perhaps then the laundry and the dishes would be done all in the same day!! I have been reading the little house series to the girls at night before they go to bed, and have really been convicted! That Ma Ingalls can stoke a fire make breakfast and pack Pa's lunch all before sunrise! As I have considered these things this week I am reminded of the proverbs 31 woman, not that I will ever be a replica, but that is my "to do" list if you will, or what I should strive to be in all aspects of my life. It is THE" Omnibus" or all encompassing instruction for my life as a wife and mother! These are the verses that really grabbed me!

Proverbs 31

vs. 10- An excellent wife who can find? For her worth is far above jewels! That means that a good wife is rare and precious and so should I strive to be!

vs.13-She looks for wool and flax and works with her hands in delight! That means that she works joyfully! Scrubbing toilets is not joyful to me, but because it provides a clean bathroom for my family it should be!

vs.17She girds herself with strength and makes her arms strong. That means she is energetic! Does toting the vacuum up the stairs count as energetic?

vs26-She opens her mouth in wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue! This means that she is wise! I have been convicted that if the discipline of my children does not move them towards repentance and a contrite heart, then I have accomplished nothing.

vs. 27-She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. This means that she is a good manager of her home!I would much rather watch The Food Network than do the dishes or mop the floor! I should delight in the fact that my hard-working husband comes home to a clean house!

vs.30-Charm is decietful and beauty is vain, but a woman of the LORD shall be praised! This says that she fears the Lord and that if I accomplish nothing else, I pray that he will give me the strength to teach this to my children and be a living sacrifice for my Savior!

I am well aware that the only way that I can ever live this way is by the grace of the savior that strengthens me!
